Fifty years ago, in December 1961, a tragic bus-train accident just east of Greeley took the lives of 20 children and injured many more. East Memorial Elementary School, which opened the following year, was named in honor of those on board the bus that day.

We currently have approximately 550 students ranging from pre-school through fifth grade. Our school has more than 52 teachers and staff members tending to the needs of every student.  We take tremendous pride in recently reaching our goals, and have high expectations and goals for the years to come.

On October 13, 2011, the school held a remembrance and tree-planting ceremony at the school.
