Core Classes: As a student progresses through their own individual career pathway there is always a strong academic focus with his/her core academic classes. Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Health, and core electives are incorporated into a pathway so that students have the benefit of relevance and a connection between all of their classes and the role they play in a successful future.
Career Pathway Classes:
Field Opportunities: Students will have the opportunity to “learn by doing” as they participate in various types of onsite learning experiences including job shadowing and internships. These opportunities will enable students to experience career fields of interest firsthand, to ask questions and interact with professionals in their field of interest, and to take what they have learned in the classroom and apply it in a real world working environment.
Early College Credit: District 6 offers numerous opportunities for students to begin earning college credit prior to graduation. By participating in these courses students can get a headstart on their post-secondary education by completing college classes that are: a) part of their degree program and b) of no cost to the student. The vision of the Career Pathways is clear:
