Mrs. Haas has opened the library up at 7:30 in the morning (Monday - Friday) for any student who would like to come and use the computers in the morning. This is a great option for students who are early to school.
SHAWSHEEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Each year, the state of Colorado looks at the performance of our students on state assessments, and gives each school a rating based on an analysis of those scores. These ratings then determine what kind of improvement plan each school will be assigned. Schools may be required to implement a performance plan, improvement plan, priority improvement plan, or turnaround plan. Performance plans require the least amount of change and turnaround plans require the most dramatic strategies for improvement.
Based on the results, our school is required to develop a priority improvement plan. We met or approached expectations in the following areas:
Academic achievement in reading, writing, and math
Academic growth in reading, math and English Language Proficiency (ACCESS)
Academic growth gaps in reading for minority students
Academic growth gaps in math for free/reduced lunch eligible, minority students, English learners and students needing to catch up
Academic growth gaps in writing for students with disabilities English learners and students needing to catch up
But according to the ranking, these are areas where we did not meet expectations:
Academic growth in writing
Academic gaps in reading for free and reduced lunch eligible, students with disabilities, English learners and student needing to catch up
Academic growth gaps in math for students with disabilities
Academic growth gaps in writing for free and reduced lunch eligible and minority students
We have developed a plan to address the areas where we did not meet expectations and will submit a two-year plan to the state by January 15, 2015.
If you would like to know how we are addressing improvement areas in the plan and receive an update on our progress in implementing last year’s plan, please plan to attend our School Accountability Committee Meetings.
