  • Google Sketch Up

    Google SketchUp is modeling software that empowers students to be 3D designers. SketchUp is a great tool for constructing 3D models of buildings, trees, cars, and anything students can imagine. Students can use it as a stand-alone tool, or in conjunction with Google Earth and the 3D Warehouse. Google Sketch Up is a free download, students can use it at home to work on their projects I assign them.

  • Essay Map

    An interactive graphic organizer, Essay Map offers studetns several ways to structure their writing through the use of an outline. Students fill in the boxes with an introductory statement, a main idea, the supporting details of theri piece, and a concluding statement. The end result is a map of their piece that can be printed, saved, or e-mailed.

  • Edmodo

    A social-networking site built for classrooms, Edmundo has a "wall" functionality that we can use to discuss classwork, etc. It's a viable alternative to Facebook for school.Students are able to access most assignments on Edmodo so they can work at home and stay caught up if they miss school.

  • Comic Creator

    The Comic Creator allows students to compose their comic strips. Students choose characters, props, and backgrounds, and craft their own dialogue. This tool is appropriate for K-12 students as either a prewriting, pre- or past-reading activity, or as a response-t0-literature exercise.

  • Book Adventure

    This online reading program aims to get students excited about reading through interactive features and games. Students can creat booklists, choose books they want to read, and take quizzes on books they have read. The site also offers tips for teachers and parents on tracking their kids' reading progress. Students can also enter contests and win prizes for theri reading success.
