Who We Are
Our team is made up of four homeroom teachers and two intervention teachers who work with small groups of students during reading and targeted instruction. We are passionate about providing students with the best education possible and a fun, nurturing place to learn. We love what we do, and we love doing it at Martinez!!! What We Do
We are so thrilled to be a part of our students' lives during this exciting time. This year students will work hard in several areas including writing, reading, math, science, and social studies. Students will experience several types of writing this year including writing narrative stories, friendly letters, how-to texts, expository (informative), and non-fiction texts. Reading will focus on expanding students' abilities to recognize words, including multi-syllabic words, and comprehend increasingly difficult texts. Math will be a time for students to build their "fact fluency" and gain exposure to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Science is so exciting in second grade! We get to learn about insects (and watch several go through their life cycle in the classroom), air and weather, and solids and liquids. We will use hands-on experiments to foster our learning and gain new experiences. Finally, we will learn about Greeley history in Social Studies. We will study the many different people, places, and events that made Greeley the place it is today.
