A hospitality education program called ProStart, (a food service/hospitality management program,) is offered to students in Weld County School District 6. ProStart is a nationally certified program that introduces you to a wide variety of careers in the hospitality industry. Developed by the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association, this unique program gives students the work experience through paid internships, and the classroom learning they need to succeed in hospitality related or business oriented careers.
The ProStar curriculum is based on a study of food preparation, lodging, customer service, and business management coupled with 1+ years, (400 hours) of paid mentored industry internships in a broad spectrum of operations. Industry sites in Greeley include Kenny’s Steakhouse, District 6 Central Production Kitchen and many other popular businesses. Students who earn a national certificate will receive college credit and have access to more than $1 million in scholarships. Students who complete ProStart I & II will earn 6 concurrent enrollment credits from Metro State University.
