Certified Staff Evaluation Council
Mission: Reviews and provides general guidance to district leadership staff and the district/GEA negotiations teams on certified evaluation implementation and communication. This committee is required by the Certified Master Agreement.
Members: About 12; made of four K-12 teachers, four community members, and four district/school administrators.

Citizens Academy
Mission: Not technically an advisory council, but this committee does provide an opportunity for community outreach and engagement. The Academy is designed to help interested community members learn more about the district’s operations. Members commit to a year-long series of meetings. Each of the meetings in the series has a different focus area of study. Participants learn about the focus area and ask questions directly of the district staff in charge of that area.

Classified Staff Council
Mission: The classified employee group is made of support staff members from across the district (bus drivers, maintenance workers, school cafeteria workers, teacher aides, health clerks, custodians, secretaries and office managers, etc.). The Council meets to discuss current work issues, initiatives and general concerns with representatives from human resources, payroll, benefits, budget/finance, and communications departments. Council is responsible for selecting the annual Classified Employee of the Year.
Members: One classified employee representative from each school building and support office/department. Members are selected at each location by peers and supervisors.

Meeting Schedule: One meeting per month during the school year, held on the first Wednesday of the month. Meetings held at 2 p.m.

Curriculum Council
Mission: The Curriculum Council was created so that district teachers and principals could provide input and leadership in the areas of content standards, curriculum materials, and assessments. The council is a decision-making body that reviews and recommends curriculum changes, curriculum resources, instructional programs, and assessment practices. The council provides recommendations to the superintendent, and, ultimately, to the Board of Education.

District Accountability Committee
Mission: Reviews and provides feedback to district leadership staff regarding academic performance data and initiatives. Reviews and gives recommendation to Board of Education on charter school applications. Reviews and gives recommendation to Board of Education on annual budget proposal. This committee is required by Colorado Statute.
Members: About 30. Committee includes at least one parent representative from each school, including charters. Also includes several “at large” community members, teachers and district administrators.

Diversity Council
Mission: Promotes increased student learning and achievement based on a belief in the value of the talents, skills, and abilities of all learners by providing advice and guidance to District leadership on diversity issues, and working together to communicate a shared belief, understanding, and respect for diversity among all members of District 6 and the community.
Members: About 20, representing teachers, district staff, and community members.

Educational Technology Committee
Mission: Studies and reviews districtwide technology issues and gives advice to Office of Information Technology and other departments.
Members: 26 teachers, principals, and administrators from across the district.

Employee Benefits Committee Meeting Schedule: The groups meet monthly from September through April of each school year. Meetings are held after school hours. School Accountability Committees School Wellness Policy Committee
Mission: To study, provide oversight, evaluate, address concerns and develop specific recommendations for controlling costs and providing benefits to employees. The committee reviews health insurance vendors and their plans, and makes recommendations on which vendors and plans the district should select for its employees’ health insurance coverage.
Membership: 3 Greeley Education Association members, 3 classified support staff members, 2 administrators, others appointed as agreed.

Exceptional Student Services Council
Mission: Reviews and make recommendations for improvement, program development, professional development and collaborative initiatives between general education and special education to support staff and parents who work with students who are at-risk to receive, or do receive, special education services.
Members: Representatives from teachers, classified support staff, and administrators.

Gifted and Talented Education Advisory Council
Mission: Serves as a consultative and advisory body to the Gifted and Talented Education program by providing valuable input and well-considered recommendations for improvement, program development, and professional development.
Members: A representative group of parents, community members, teachers, counselors, administrators and university personnel from every segment of the community.

Meeting Schedule: The Long-Range Facility Planning Committee meeting schedule is designed to allow the committee to bring a report to the Board of Education at the May 14th, 2012 Board meeting. Meeting times are 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Weld County School District 6 Administration Building, 1025 Ninth Ave., in Greeley. The first meeting will be held in the 1North Conference area. Middle and High School Department Chairpersons (career and technical education, literacy/language arts, math, science, social studies, world languages, art, music, physical education)
Mission: Reviews, provides feedback on, and helps develop curriculum guides, instructional practices, and assessments.
Members: This committee is made of the department chairpersons from each middle and high school. Department chairpersons are experienced teachers who are selected as leaders for their curriculum area. Chairpersons are selected at the individual school building level.

Professional Development Council
Mission: Collaboratively develop a professional development plan that will result in increased student achievement. Create an evaluation plan to measure the effectiveness of professional development offered in District 6. Evaluate, clarify and modify the professional development plan annually.
Members: 8 teachers who represent all levels and a variety of subject areas, 3 school administrators from different levels, 2 central office coordinators or administrators.

Mission: This committee is charged with ensuring that the district school wellness policy addresses nutrition and physical activity-related recommendations and requirements; is implemented and adhered to; and is evaluated for efficacy. Currently, great focus is being placed on the return to scratch cooking for school meal programs.
Members: Parents, students, representatives of the school food authority, members of the school board, school administrators, teachers, health professionals, and members of the public.

Mission: This committee is charged with helping to establish sustainable resource and energy practices across the district, and to create and maintain a district-wide sustainability management plan. The committee will study and promote ways to conserve, reduce, and reuse the district’s valuable resources, materials and energy.
