The AVID elective class is a college preparatory elective class available for 6th, 7th, and 8thgrade students. AVID stands forAchievementViaIndividualDetermination. The AVID class helps to prepare students to be successful in school and later, college. Students learn organizational and note-taking skills as well as take on leadership roles. Additionally, students learn to work in collaborative groups and to take personal responsibility for their own learning in school. AVID students visit the high school campuses as well some colleges in the area.
This year's AVID Elective teachers are Chris Haddorff, 8th grade; Ryan Sullivan and Brendan Chenoweth, 7th grade; and John Spencer, 6th grade. Pam Tann is the AVID Coordinator for Brentwood.
