Announcements

  • Throughout the school year, many sixth grade students are not sure whether they have band or PE on that particular day.  If you are not sure, please bring your instrument to school AND wear tennis shoes.  That way you are prepared for either scenario!  Teal and Silver days always alternate, without skipping any days, through the entire school year.  The first day back from Winter Break, January 07, will be TEAL.  The second day will be Silver, and the third will be a Teal day again.  Please don't hesitate to ask if you don't know!

  • Our most recent project on DonorsChoose.org has been fully funded!  We will soon be able to incorporate a new iPod Touch into our band classes.  Interested in helping us with our next project?  Find Mrs. Pentzer on DonorsChoose.org and check out our newest tax-deductible, fundraising project!  There are many teachers from our school hoping for new classroom items.  You can search DonorsChoose.org by state, city, school, and/or teacher name to find a project that is meaningful to you.

  • Students will need a few supplies in order to make sure they are ready for band.  Just as pens, paper, and colored pencils are important for your core classes, the following is a list of supplies that are important for everyone as we begin this school year.

    Flute Students

    ·     Tradition of Excellence band book, Level 1 (red) for Flute

    ·     Small cloth or soft rag for cleaning the inside of your flute

    ·     Travel-size bottle of mouthwash, any variety, to use as disinfectant

     Clarinet Students

    ·     Tradition of Excellence band book, Level 1 (red) for Bb Clarinet

    ·     Mitchell Lurie clarinet reeds; 5 reeds strength 2, and 10 reeds strength 2.5. These come in a gold box. Be prepared to need more reeds as the school year goes on; expect to go through approximately one reed per week. This brand of reeds will last longer than most others, and they will also help produce the best sound.  You will not be able to participate in class without reeds and will consequently lose participation points without them.

    ·     Small tube of cork grease

    ·     Travel-size bottle of mouthwash, any variety, to use as disinfectant

     Saxophone Students

    ·     Tradition of Excellence band book, Level 1 (red) for Eb Alto Saxophone
