WOW! This has been a FANTASTIC opening of school. Thank you for having your child(ren) here on both the first and second days of school. Attendance is critical to student achievement so developing an attendance habit makes a difference for our students. Thanks, also, for driving carefully in and out of our parking lots. There are many students who attend our school on open enrollment so their families provide transportation. Driving carefully along the curb to either drop off or pick up students is very helpful and we appreciate your attention to student safety.
2012 – 2013 INFORMATION PACKETS
If you didn’t pick up and complete an information packet during K-5 Assessment or 6-8 Registration, there is a packet of information for you included with this week’s Friday Folder. In the packet there is a blue Enrollment Verification Sheet, a Health Information Sheet, a Medicaid Reimbursement Consent to Release Information, and Transportation Packet. Please pay special attention to the blue sheet in the Transportation Packet. It explains the use of video cameras on the school bus. Please complete, sign, date, and return all forms by Tuesday, August 21, 2012.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 23, 2012. The evening will begin with an information session in your child’s homeroom from 6:00 – 6:30 P.M. During this time parents/guardians will also provide their time and date preferences for Parent Teacher Conferences in September. Then there will be a twenty minute transition where you can meet specialists, elective teachers, and members of the WPTO in the main hallway. There will also be food samples available from Fun Services, our fall fundraiser company. In addition, you will also be able to stop by the Library to receive a free public library card for your child(ren). Please be sure to bring your photo ID with you in order to receive your student’s card. A second information session is scheduled for 6:50 – 7:20 P.M. also in your child’s homeroom. You only need to attend one information session for each of your children. This evening is for adults only. There will not be child care available. We hope to see you on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 6:00 P.M.
BEGINNING OF THE YEAR ASSESSMENTS
Thank you for bringing your K-5 child(ren) to their scheduled beginning-of-the-year assessments. As a result of your help, most of the assessments have been completed. The results are “in” and they look “paws”itively excellent. Thank you for supporting your child(ren) with their attendance, their homework, and their belief that they can learn at high levels!
If your middle school child wants to participate in cross country, volleyball or swimming, he/she must have a current physical on file in the Health Office as well as a signed Parent or Guardian Permit for Athletic Participation. If he/she does not have these documents in the school Health Office, he/she will not be able to participate in practices or competitions. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
2012-2013 SCHOOL FUNDRAISER
This year’s school fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, August 30, 2012 through Thursday, September 20, 2012. Fun Services will kick off the fundraiser on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the COURAGE Assembly. Each student will bring a fundraiser packet home with him/her. We hope that everyone chooses to participate. Whether you participate or not, every student needs to return his/her packet. Thanks for supporting your child(ren) and our school.
