Boundary Adjustments
Greeley-Evans School District 6 is working with Shannon Bingham of Western Demographics to complete a boundary study for elementary and middle schools. The purpose of the boundary study is to create a homeschool boundary for the new Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering, create a homeschool boundary for the new Madison PK-8 school, relieve schools that are over capacity and remove portable classrooms, and determine where to build additions onto existing buildings that are over capacity.

Construction Update
On Tuesday, September 29, District 6 - in partnership with owners representative RLH Engineering, contractors Sampson Construction and architects The Cunningham Group - hosted a meeting outside McAuliffe STEM Academy K-8 to update neighbors living near the school about the construction project, including timelines, modifications to the site, the new floor plan of the school, plans to reorient the front of the school to the north, reorienting the drop off/pick up lanes to the north and more.

At McAuliffe, We Make Learning Fun!
S. Christa McAuliffe S.T.E.M. Academy is a K-8 school. The school will continue to implement a STEM focus, which will allow students to receive additional instruction and learning opportunities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students living outside the McAuliffe boundary can apply by filling out an Open Enrollment Application. Click on this headline to be directed to Open Enrollment.

Immunization Information
As of July 1, 2017, Colorado immunization law requires that all students entering 6th grade receive the Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis) immunization to remain in compliance with school immunization requirements. Please contact your health provider as soon as possible to set up an appointment to receive this required vaccine if your student has not already received it. Please do so prior to the 2018-19 school year.

Weld County is recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month joining in the belief that strengthening, educating and supporting families is the most effective way to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Ground Breaking Ceremony held for Tointon Academy
An official ground breaking ceremony for the new Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering was held Wednesday, March 30 at the site of the school in West Greeley. The new preschool-8th grade academy is named after Bob and Betty Tointon, who have been strong supporters of public education in Greeley and Evans. Construction of the school is being funded through the 2019 Bond Issue approved by voters. This is the first new non-charter school - that is not a replacement school - to be built in District 6 in 20 years.

S. Christa McAuliffe STEM Academy Topping Ceremony
S. Christa McAuliffe STEM Academy celebrated a milestone in its 2019 Bond Issue construction project. The school and contractor, Sampson Construction, hosted a Topping Ceremony, which is when the last and highest steel beam is put into place.

Student Advocate named Classified Employee of Year
Andrea Lopez Tzun, who first came to Greeley-Evans School District 6 as a student from her home country in Central America, has been named the Classified Employee of the Year. She was honored by the Board of Education at its regular meeting Monday, March 22.
