2nd Grade

 

Hello! My name is Guin Skow. I am currently a second grade teacher. Before teaching second grade, I taught kindergarten for twelve years and fifth grade for two years. I have also taught multiple grade levels during summer school and after school. I thoroughly enjoy teaching second grade, and I am looking forward to a year full of engagement and learning. 

I received my BA and my MAT in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado. In 2013, I also completed my  EDS (Educational Specialist in Leadership) and principal licensure through UNC. I consider myself a life-long learner. 

Besides teaching, I am married and have two fantastic children, a boy and a girl. My daughter is sixteen years old, and my son is fourteen years old. My family enjoys hiking, traveling, playing games, reading, and just spending time together.

Dos Rios became an accredited IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) school four years ago. As an IB school, teachers and students strive to enhance their social and academic knowledge through six themes throughout the year. I will be sending out information about our themes throughout the year.

 Here are the six themes that we will be focusing on throughout the year:

  5. Sharing the Planet
  6. How We Organize Ourselves

 

We will be sending home parent newsletters when we are beginning a new PYP unit. The newsletters will have information related to what central idea we are focusing on for that unit.
