District 6 Headlines
Any parent or guardian interested in enrolling their child in a school outside their home boundary for the 2021-22 school year must apply during the open enrollment period, which is November 1, 2020, through December 17, 2020. While District 6 is able to accommodate most open enrollment requests, it may not be able to approve requests for enrollment into schools, specific grade levels or special programs that are at or above capacity or cannot fulfill the specific needs of the student.
An important message in English and Spanish from Dr. Deirdre Pilch, Superintendent. We will move to remote learning beginning Monday, November 16. A detailed email has been sent to all parents and students, and can be read by clicking on this headline. Please read the entire communication as soon as possible.
Lori McCarty, the Health Services Coordinator for Greeley Evans School District 6, has been named the School Nurse Administrator of the Year by the Colorado Association of School Nurses.
After implementing a snow day this week, the District 6 leadership team has reviewed the district’s guidelines and procedures around closing schools because of bad weather. For several significant reasons, for the remainder of this school year we will not halt learning because of bad weather and will instead switch to remote learning when the weather conditions create a safety issue for travel. Students will meet with their teachers online for their regular school day if the weather is too bad to host in-person learning at our schools. Students who are learning online this year will continue as normal. Click for more details.
The Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering will be the name of the new PK-8 school to be built in west Greeley. The Board of Education unanimously approved the name at its meeting Monday night. A committee of 14 District 6 staff and community members reviewed 70 names that were suggested for the new school through a community survey this summer. The committee met four times to whittle the names down and come up with a recommendation for the Board of Education.
The October 26th, 2020 meeting of the Greeley Evans School District 6 Board of Education will be broadcasted LIVE for the 3 pm executive session, 4 pm work session and 6 pm business meeting.
