Welcome! Somos Dos Rios!

          • Dear Dos Rios Community:

It takes a great deal of commitment and professionalism to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, authorized to deliver an IB programme. Dos Rios Elementary School is delighted to announce that it is now fully authorized to deliver the Primary Years Programme as an IB World School! IB World Schools are a worldwide community of schools that share a common philosophy of aiming to create a better, more peaceful world and a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education. Presently there are 4,784 IB World Schools with 52 in Colorado.

Dos Rios embarked on the IB journey in Spring 2015, becoming a Candidate school. Over the past three years, students and staff have engaged in new ways of learning and teaching. An IB education promotes critical thinking through inquiring, responding to real-life experiences, taking action, and reflecting. Dos Rios is also focused on growing students who are well-rounded, internationally-minded, life-long learners. Students learn how local and global issues are connected. Additionally, all students engage in Spanish and culture as part of their weekly specials rotations, and our library has experienced a transformation to become a knowledge and culture hub for learning.

Greeley-Evans School District 6 now offers a continuum of three International Baccalaureate educational programs. Dos Rios Elementary School Primary Years Programme, for students ages 4-12, focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. Brentwood Middle School and Greeley West High School Middle Years Programme, for students ages 11 to 16, provides a framework of academic challenge, which encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world to become critical, reflective thinkers. Greeley West High School Diploma Programme, for students ages 16 to 19, is an academically challenging balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students for success at university and life beyond. The IB experience is not just a way to learn, it is a way to a better world.

We are excited to continue this journey at deeper levels with students, staff, parents, and the community.

As always, please contact us with any questions. Muchas gracias!
