    Message from the principal-August 19, 2019

We have had a very positive start to the school year!  Thank you everyone! We are excited to welcome Kindergarten students on August 20!  Maybe you weren’t aware but we are the largest elementary school in our district and we are proud of all the programming and resources we have to support your child.  Please remember to be patient and follow the rules, with this many people coming to our building everyday, we need everyone to pitch in and make sure drop off and pick up goes smoothly and safely!

Remember school starts at 7:45 AM everyday, students arriving after that time are considered late.  Just like last year, students enter directly into school through the cafeteria for breakfast or back doors to go to their classroom and be greeted by an adult.  Please do not drop children off before 7:30 AM. NO student should be on the playground prior to school. Cafeteria doors open for breakfast at 7:30 AM; all other students enter through the back doors starting at 7:35 AM.  ONLY students who are met by a special education staff member will enter through the front doors prior to the tardy bell at 7:50 AM. The quickest and safest way to drop your child off is by using the continuous drop off lane on Palermo Ave.  Parking is not allowed in the drop-off lane; drivers must stay inside their cars and pull as far forward as possible. Once there are no gaps, stop your car and the students can get out safely onto the sidewalk and walk right to the back doors.  Parking is allowed in the front parking lot by permit only between 7:35 and 7:50 AM.

Our third annual PTO Husky Fun Run will be held on Friday, September 6th during the school day. The theme this year is glow up to be your best self.  Students are encouraged to wear neon and glowy clothing that day. The PTO Donations are open now until September 3rd. You can send in cash or check with your student in the envelope that was sent home with them on Friday or you can make a donation at https://greeley.revtrak.net/  All students who turn in any donation will win a prize. Each student who raises at least $35 in donations will earn entry to the bounce house prize.  If you would like to help as a volunteer the day of the event, please contact Jess Carver, our PTO president at jesscarver111@gmail.com.

If you are interested in purchasing Heiman Spirit wear, you can do that online.  Please go to www.kwshirts.com, select online stores, then select Heiman.  You can then put items into your online shopping cart and pay with a credit or debit card.  If you want to contact the company directly you can do so by calling 970-686-9191.

What an  AWESOME day!  GO HUSKIES!!!

    Parking Lot & Drop-Off/Pick-Up

    • Parking lot is open only to buses and parents with handicapped parking passes all mornings 7:30-7:50 AM, and all afternoons 2:45-3:20 PM
    • Busses will be loading and unloading in front of the building
    • There is a drop-off/pick-lane on the west side of the building
    • There is no parking on Palermo Ave between Milan St and Rialto Ave,
    • In order to come into the parking lot during closed hours, listed above, vehicles will need a “Husky Pass” from the office.
To be most efficient for student pick-up and drop-off times, here are a few tips:
    • The best, and most easily accessible, parking will be north of Ann K. Heiman.
    • When coming to Ann K. Heiman off 37th St, use Sienna Ave and come around to the north side of the school. (Please see white dotted line below)
    • The pick-up/drop-off zone is for quick drop-off and pick-ups. THERE IS NO PARKING IN THIS LANE.
    • The front doors of the school will not be a good “meeting place.” Please, find another location along the west side of the school.
    • To be most efficient please come to school with a meet-up plan in place.
    • If a vehicle is coming into the parking lot with a “Husky Pass,” please come straight in off Rialto Ave. (There will be no right or left hand turns during closed parking hours)

Last, but certainly not least, courtesy.
    • Please do not park in front of our neighbors' driveways.
    • Follow all speed limits.
    • If you see a vehicle that is not following these guidelines, please report to Ann K. Heiman office staff or Evans Police department. Do not engage in conflict. Remember our children are watching.
