Mr. Jioni Reliford

This is my 11th year as the PE teacher here at Jackson. I am from Pueblo, Colorado, and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in December of 2012 with a B.S. in Sport and Exercise Science. I subbed for a semester in Greeley-Evans District 6 as well as Platte Valley Youth Services Center which helped prepare me for what I consider the best "job" there is! I also coach boys and girls basketball just up the street at Brentwood Middle School. I absolutely love what I do every day. I was very lucky to have a number of teachers and coaches in my life who made a huge impact by investing time and believing in me. My passion is interacting with kids of all ages in hopes to make that same positive impact in the lives of every student I come in contact with, while instilling a love for movement and a healthy lifestyle.

My goal is to get students moving as much as possible and expose them to as many different activities I can in the time I see them. We work on sports skills in a way that allows students to progress yet be challenged at their own level. A major part of my class is personal and social well-being. I want students to feel comfortable taking risks, be a good winner, deal with defeat appropriately, and encourage one another. We love team building challenges, we work together, practice communication; skills that our children will need for the rest of their lives. My hope is that throughout the year, students find an activity that they enjoy so they can participate outside of the school day so they can live an active and healthy lifestyle.

At Jackson, we believe in educating "the whole child". I place a high value on eating well, exercising, and treating others with respect. I also try my best to incorporate math and reading concepts in order for students to be able to connect the dots in their classrooms.

I love this school, the students, and my co-workers! There's such a sense of family when we walk in the doors every morning. There's no place I'd rather be!
