Welcome to first grade! 

My name is Micah Evans. This is my 21st year as a teacher.  During the 2012-2013 school year, I was a Literacy Coach for the school district, helping teachers to implement the literacy curriculum for Kindergarten through fifth grade teachers.   Although I learned a lot about how to teach students to read, I missed the day-to-day interaction with students.  I decided to return to Jackson and back to first grade.  I love it! I have taught English as a Second Language from Kindergarten through fifth grade.  For the past 16 years of my teaching experience, I have been teaching first grade.  I have my Bachelor's Degree in Spanish with added endorsements for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse as well as an endorsement for Bilingual Education.  I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and an Educational Specialist Degree in Leadership. I have two sons and a daughter.  During my free time, I love to cook as well as spend time in the mountains with my family.
