2022-23 Courage AssembliesOctober 7, 2022 Courage Assembly with a Focus on CompassionWe had a special performance from Northridge High School Cheerleaders!MARCH COURAGE ASSEMBLY- Thursday, March 22, 2018 -We had our March COURAGE Assembly on Thursday, March 22nd.We are an awesome sight when we have all the CUBS in the house!COURAGE Awards were presented to 54 CUBS who had shown Generosity in the last month.The Junior Varsity & Varsity Boys Basketball teams were recognized for their stellar play during the season. They showed great sportsmanship and were wonderful ambassadors for our school.Mrs. Flores, Mr. Hope, and Mrs. Mick presented "Multiplication Masters" & "Division Masters" awards to 18 Third Grade students, and Health Heroes Rylee B., and Lauren N. were recognized for displaying healthy habits during the last month.Mrs. Turner & Miss Odom awarded tools to engage in outdoor activities to the students who logged their 5210 hours during the month of February.Mrs. Nelson (6th Grade), Mrs. Galloway (4th Grade) and Mrs. Turner (1st Grade) were happy to accept their class prizes for showing the Highest Average Daily Attendance within the last month.Mrs. Douglas, (with help from her 4th grade class) introduced the 4th Grade Community Service Project benefitting The Wild Animal Sanctuary. They will be "taking over" the school store during part of the month of April to raise money for the organization. And Mrs. Warden accompanied by the 7th & 8th Grade Orchestra, closed the assembly leading our CUBS in singing the school song.◊◊◊FEBRUARY COURAGE ASSEMBLY- Thursday, February 15, 2018 -Our February COURAGE Assembly saw fifty-four students earning COURAGE Awards for displaying Achievement during the last month.Miss Yeager presented Library Challenge Awards to two CUBS. Mrs. Hassell was thrilled to accept the Attendance trophy for the 5th Grade class. They had the highest average daily attendance of the intermediate grades. Second grade won the attendance award for the primary grades, and seventh grade were the winners for middle school.Ten students were thanked for being the top fundraisers in the elementary and middle school levels. (One is missing from this picture because she was absent.)Miss Odom awarded Evyn M. and Erick M. A. the February Health Heroes awards. Health Heroes are nominated by student peers for showing healthy habits. Miss Odom then draws two students out of the bucket of Health Hero nominations.Third grade students told the CUBS about their Community Service project for this month. They are collecting chapstick & toothpaste for the people that the Guadelupe Shelter serve.And all of the CUBS ended the assembly by singing the school song accompanied by Miss Albertson and her 7th & 8th grade band.◊◊◊JANUARY COURAGE ASSEMBLY- Thursday, January 18, 2018 -We had our January COURAGE Assembly on Thursday, January 18th.COURAGE Awards were presented to 54 CUBS who had shown Respect in the last month.Mrs. Turner, (with help from her 1st grade class) introduced the "5210" campaign which will take place during the month of February. To learn more about the 5210 Campaign, click HEREMiddle School math teachers presented "Multiplication Masters" awards to 3rd graders who earned them during the last month.Mrs. Warden & Mrs. Gerbers were thrilled to accept the prize for the second grade classes who earned the highest average daily attendance award for the primary grades this month. The 4th grade won the award for the intermediate grades, and the 8th grade won the award for the middle school grades.Mrs. Pedersen announced who won T-Time books for the month and Miss Yeager posed with the CUBS who won Reading Challenge awards. This month's Health Heroes are Aneisyah F. and Dylan H.Our middle school orcehstra performed several songs to welcome the CUBS into the gym. At the end of the assembly the ordhestra also played to school song so Mrs. Warden could help us all sing it together!Mrs. Gerbers and the 2nd graders encourage CUBS to donate mittens and hats for the Mitten & Hat tree during the month of December. And, Mrs. Pedersen and the 1st graders encouraged CUBS to donate pet supplies and food during their Wags & Wishes community service campaign. And we again ended our time together singing the school song accompanied by the band!◊◊◊DECEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYWe had our December COURAGE Assembly the morning of Thursday, December 14, 2017.Students who showed Respect during the month of December were awarded COURAGE Awards.Mrs. Pedersen read names of students who won books for completing their T-Time forms, Miss Yeager distributed Library Reading Challenge awards, Mrs. Nelson presented Words Read Harvast certificates, and the Middle School math teachers presented certificates to third graders who had become Multiplication Masters.The 2017 Volleyball team received certificates for their particpation and nine lucky winners' names were drawn from the COURAGE Award bucket to win a sled that had been decorated by Middle School art students. A slide show of the students and the sleds that they chose is below.We concluded our time together with Mrs. Warden leading us in holiday songs. We were accompanied by the 7th & 8th Grade Advanced Band, lead by Miss Albertson.◊◊◊We had our November COURAGE Assembly on Thursday, November 16th.Our middle school band performed several songs to welcome the CUBS into the gym.COURAGE Awards were presented to 54 CUBS who had shown Unity in the last month.Mrs. Pedersen announced who won T-Time books for the month and Miss Yeager posed with the CUBS who won Reading Challenge awards. This month's Health Heroes are Alisha D. and Destiny C.The Winograd Cross Country Team posed with the certificates they were presented with during the assembly.Middle school teachers Mrs. Mick, Mr. Hope, and Mrs. Flores presented Math Multiplication Master awards to third graders. Fourth grade teachers Mrs. Mearsha & Mrs. Galloway (pictured with Mrs. Faganel) were happy to accept the awards for Highest Average Daily Attendance for the Intermediate grades. And Mrs. Turner (pictured with Mrs. Bishop) accepted the award for the 1st graders who one the award for the Primary grades. Third grade won for the intermediate grades, and 8th grade won for the middle school grades. This month's Health Heroes are Matthew M. and Taylor K.The Winograd Swim Team posed with the certificates they were presented with during the assembly.And we ended our time together singing the school song accompanied by the band!◊◊◊SEPTEMBER 28 COURAGE ASSEMBLYWe had our secong COURAGE Assembly of the year on Thursday, September 28, 2017.October COURAGE Assembly on Thursday, OctoCOURAGE Awards were presented to 54 CUBS who had shown Compassion during the last month.Mrs. Pedersen announced a student from each grade who were T-Time winners for the month. They are each awarded a book of their choice for being drawn out of the bucket this month.Miss Odom drew two names out of the bucket of students who had exhibited healthy habits within the last month. These students are then awarded a T-Shirt and other prizes for their good work.Mrs. Gerbers (2nd grade), and Mrs. Galloway & Mrs. Mearsha (4th grade) accepted Attendance awards because their grade levels had achieved the highest average daily attendance in the last month. Seventh grade also won the award for the middle school levels.And as is our tradition, we ended the Assembly with Mrs. Warden leading us in the school song.It's great to be a CUB!◊◊◊SEPTEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLY-Our first time together as the 2017-2018 CUBS-On Thursday, September 7th Winograd CUBS large and small gathered together for the first time as 2017-2018 CUBS. Ms. Bressler, school principal welcomed the CUBS to school. Mr. Pell and Mrs. Bishop explained COURAGE and how all of our CUBS can show it everyday. COURAGE Awards were presented to a Primary level CUB, and Intermediate level CUB, as well as a Middle school CUB.
