AUGUST COURAGE ASSEMBLYOur First Time TogetherOn Thursday, August 27th the entire student body gathered in the gymnasium for our first COURAGE Assembly. It was a great kick-off to the 2015-2016 school year. Our group talked about showing COURAGE which included a skit by middle school students about bullying and strategies we all can use to combat it.Ms. Niccoli interviewed eighth grader Mollie about our "Caring CUBS Connect" (C3) activity. Students who had already earned COURAGE Awards were entered in a drawing to win various prizes. Mr. Pell & Ms. Niccoli drew the lucky winners!The Winograd Parent/Teacher Organization introduced Fun Services who told our students about this year's fundraiser. CUBS who sell 15 items or more earn a ride in a limousine!
And we concluded our time together by singing the school song. It was a great kick-off to a wonderful year!
Thursday, September 17th the entire student body gathered in the gymnasium for our September COURAGE Assembly.
lllSEPTEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYWe kicked off the assembly by recognizing students who were awarded for showing Compassion this month.Grade levels with the Highest Daily Attendance average were awarded trophies, ribbons and treats. Here sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Flores accepts the awards for her group.We talked about fundraising safety by using a skit with 4th grade teacher Mrs. Douglas and 8th graders EJ, and Crystal.
The drawing for T-Time winners was held and we concluded our time together by singing the school song with 2nd Grade teacher Mrs. Warden. It was a great kick-off to a wonderful year! Our CUBS celebrate the joy of learning every day!lll
OCTOBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYOn Thursday, October 15th the entire student body gathered in the gymnasium for our October COURAGE Assembly. It was also United Way Hat Day, so our students were dressed in their PJ best!Students who displayed Optimism during the previous month were given COURAGE Awards.Mrs. Steenburgen announced the winners of the Library Challenges of the month while the 7th & 8th Grade Band looked on.lll
NOVEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYOn Thursday, November 12th the entire student body gathered in the gymnasium for our November COURAGE Assembly.Students who displayed Unity during the previous month were given COURAGE Awards.Dr. Bowen and Mrs. Ault from the Winograd Parent/Teacher Organization were here to announce that the CUBS raised over $18,000.00 during the fundraiser! Representatives from United Way, (here with Mr. Pell,) were here to accept the almost $3,000.00 our students raised during the United Way Student Campaign. Our CUBS are Generous, with a capital "G!"
Classes who raised the most money for United Way voted on which faculty member they wanted to watch kiss a pig. Miss Albertson and Mrs. Turner were two of ten faculty members who were given the "honor." They celebrated the occasion with commemorative T-shirts.
The CUBS Choir helped Mrs. Warden lead the school as we concluded the Assembly by singing the School Song.

DECEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYMrs. Steenburgen announced the winners of the Library Challenges of the month while the 7th & 8th Grade Band looked on.
Students who displayed Unity during the previous month were given COURAGE Awards.Students who displayed Respect during the previous month were given COURAGE Awards.Members of the Cross Country team, as well as participants in Volleyball and Swimming were also recognized.Members of Ms. Puckett's Seventh Grade Art Class decorated sleds used to award nine students who were entered in a drawing because they'd participated in our "Season of COURAGE" program.The faculty and staff engaged the help of students to perform various parts of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" during our all school sing along.lllJANUARY COURAGE ASSEMBLYThursday, January 21st found our CUBS gathered together to celebrate in an all-school assembly.The 7th & 8th grade boys basketball teams were recognized.Our fifth grade class introduced their Community Service Project for the year.Enthusiastic third graders helped educate the school about the 5210 Program we will participate in during the month of February.Mrs. Gerbers, Mrs. Warden, and Mrs. Mick were excited to accept the prizes their classes earned for having the highest average daily attendance in January.The 7th & 8th grade band helped Mrs. Warden close the assembly as we sang the school song.lllFEBRUARY COURAGE ASSEMBLYThursday, February 18th found our CUBS gathered together to celebrate in an all-school COURAGE assembly.COURAGE Awards were presented.Mrs. Micnhimer, Ms. Parker, & Mrs. Gurney were happy to accept awards for their class' highest daily attendance for the month.The Third Grade classes invited the school to participate in their Community Service project to benefit the Guadelupe Center. Toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste are being collected until the end of February.Library Challenge and Math Masters pause to pose for photos.And as is tradition, we closed our time together with the school song. This time Mrs. Warden had help from the 7th/8th Grade Orchestra.lllMARCH COURAGE ASSEMBLYThursday, March 17th found our CUBS celebrating our accomplishments during our all school COURAGE Assembly. COURAGE Awards celebrating Generosity were given to 54 CUBS.Real life brothers, Brayden & Alex S. (playing the roles of the Mario Brothers) helped with the building blocks of test taking tips that our students can use while taking the upcoming PARCC tests.Students enjoyed showing their CUBS pride during the assembly.Math Master 4th graders received their awards for competency in Multiplication and Division.Second graders encouraged CUBS that they "Can-Can" help collect canned goods for the Weld Food Bank during the next few weeks.lllAPRIL COURAGE ASSEMBLYFriday, April 22nd found our CUBS celebrating our accomplishments during our all school COURAGE Assembly. COURAGE Awards celebrating Excellence were given to 54 CUBS.Ms. Bressler welcomed our special guests who had volunteered for our school during the 2015-2016 school year.Students and teachers were happy to honor our CUB volunteers who'd donated countless hours to our classrooms this year.Miss Albertson and the 7th/8th grade band pose for a quick picture before they wowed the crowd by playing one of the pieces they'd performed at the recent Large Group Competition.The Assembly also recognized the Girls Basketball teams, our Math Multiplication/Division Masters, Library Challenge Awards, and ended with the school song accompanied by the band.CUBS SHOW SPIRIT!lllMAY COURAGE ASSEMBLYThe last COURAGE Assembly of the year was held on Thursday, May 12th in the Winograd gymnasium. Students won COURAGE Awards for showing COURAGE throughout the year.Students were awarded COURAGE Awards for showing all of the tenets of COURAGE during the last month of school.The middle school Track & Field team were recognized.And T-Time Teddies were awarded to students who read or were read to 100 minutes every week of the school year.The CUBS had a great time during their last all-school gathering. We wish everyone a super summer!
