FIRST COURAGE ASSEMBLYOur CUBS are in a League of our OWN!We kicked off the 2014-215 year with an action packed COURAGE Assembly. The entire school was witness to an amazing display of school spirit and unity.
We engaged in our usual COURAGE Assembly traditions celebrating our COURAGE Award winners, and singing the school song with the band. And, we had our fundraiser kick-off, a skit about anti-bullying, and a special surprise of our own version of the ALS Benefit Ice Bucket Challenge.
Mrs. Warden, Ms. Watson & Mrs. Sage all accepted the challenge first. They then encouraged Mr. Pell, Ms. Niccoli & Ms. Bressler to join them. Mrs. Hughes-Coffman surprised the crowd by joining Mr. Pell in his "pond."
Winograd CUBS are clearly in a League of our OWN!lllSEPTEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYT-Time Reading, TCAP, & Compassion AwardsSo Much to CELEBRATE!Our September COURAGE Assembly found the CUBS celebrating our many achievements. A drawing was held to choose two students from each grade who had turned in their T-Time reading slips. These students were then allowed to pick out a new book to add to their collection.Bronze awards were given to students who improved in at least one proficiency level during our spring TCAP testing. Silver awards were given to students who scored at least Proficient in all of their content areas. Gold awards were given to students who scored all Advanced on their three tests. And, our school had five 4th graders received the Platinum award for earning a perfect score on one or more sections of the test.
Two students from each class were awarded Compassion Awards. And, our Intermediate and Advanced Orchestra helped close the assembly with our school song.It was a great time of celebration for our school!lllOCTOBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYWe had a lot to celebrate during our October COURAGE Assembly. We recognized Mr. Bedingfield, (one of our favorite volunteers,) because it was his 90th Birthday and because he means so much to us.We also recognized our Middle School student athletes, students who showed "Optimism" this month, and we enjoyed the performance from the 7th & 8th grade choir.Thursday the 16th was also United Way Pajama Day. Students and staff who donated $1.00 to United Way were allowed to wear Pajamas all day. It's fun to be a CUB!lll
NOVEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYBesides the usual acknowledgment of COURAGE Awards, Library Reading Challenges, T-Time Drawing winners, and Highest Average Daily Attendance recognitions, our Winograd CUBS had even more to celebrate.
Students held signs depicting the various amounts of money raised for the Weld Food Bank, United Way Hat & Pajama Days, the "Dig Pink" Volleyball fundraiser for the NCMC Breast Center, etc.
Winograd CUBS raised over $2,000.00 beyond our goal during our annual fundraiser!8th grader, Cole sold the largest amount of fundraiser goods in the entire school.The first grade classes kicked off their "Wags & Wishes" fundraiser to benefit the Weld County Humane Society. Their collection of cat & dog food, as well as kitty litter continued until Friday, November 21st.lllDECEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYA Season of Giving!On Thursday, December 18th, the entire CUBS family gathered together in the gym to recognize the hard work we've exhibited this year and to celebrate the holiday season.We engaged in the usual COURAGE Awards, Reading Challenges, and Highest Average Daily Attendance Awards but also awarded Math Masters, Boys Basketball participants, and "Season of COURAGE" winners. We concluded the Assembly with the CUBS Holiday Sing-A-Long under the direction of Mrs. Pentzer.Ms. Niccoli poses near the Season of COURAGE Tree which displayed all of the COURAGE Awards and Middle School Random Acts of Kindness ornaments. Also, Ms. Niccoli and Mr. Pell announced the names of the excited CUBS who won sleds and other prizes for showing COURAGE during the month of December.Mrs. Puckett's 8th Grade Art class decorated ten sleds which were then used as prizes for 10 lucky winners.Middle School Math teachers presented "Math Masters" awards to four hard working Third graders, while Librarian Mrs. Horvath awarded Library Reading Challenge awards to six deserving students.The 8th Grade Boys Basketball program was celebrated for their awesome season.lllJANUARY COURAGE ASSEMBLYWe Celebrate Together!On Thursday, January 22nd, the entire CUBS family gathered together in the gym to recognize the hard work we've exhibited as a CUBS family. Besides our usual recognition of COURAGE, Highest Average Daily Attendance, Library Challenge, & Math Masters Awards, we also recognized T-Time drawing winners and had two videos.Miss Figgs celebrates with the rest of the First graders upon their win of this month's Highest Average Daily Attendance award.
There were four Library Challenge Award participants.Miss Marullo, Miss Figgs, Mrs. Olsen and Mrs. Douglas unveiled the "5210 Challenge" which will take place during the month of February at our school. All students and staff members were encouraged to participate.lllFebruary COURAGE Assembly
The COURAGE of the CUB!Lights, Camera, Action....our season of state testing kicked off with a multi-media extravaganza that found our students cheering, laughing, and singing through the morning.The assembly opened with a video showcasing our own Captain COURAGE and our CUB working out in preparation for the tests. The video was accompanied by the music from the movie "Rocky" using the tune of "Eye of the Tiger" by the group Survivor.Mrs. Pentzer than sang words to the tune that she had written which encourage all of our students to show the COURAGE of the CUB when preparing for the testing.. Two representatives from 3rd - 8th grade gave tips on preparing for and doing well on the PARCC and CMAS tests.Third Grade students shared Tip # 6 for the test-taking CUBS...."Show What You Know!" Mrs. Mearsha from 4th Grade was proud to show-off the prize her classes won for having the Highest Daily Attendance in the Intermediate classrooms.The COURAGE Assembly also featured awards for displaying COURAGE, Library Challenge, & Math Masters.
The Third Grade class introduced their Community Service Project for the month which is their collection of Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, and hand soap kits for the Guadalupe Shelter.
The Assembly closed with the whole school singing the "COURAGE of the CUB" song together, and then singing our school song.lllMARCH COURAGE ASSEMBLY
We CELEBRATE Winograd!Winograd CUBS gathered in the gym on Thursday, March 19th for an action-packed COURAGE Assembly. We started our time together by singing along with the "COURAGE of the CUB" video, then celebrated our T-Time, Highest Average Daily Attendance, Library Challenge, and COURAGE Award winners.Our own First Grader Grace Gerbers was the K-5 choice to represent all of School District #6 at the Colorado Association of School Boards state conference. Mrs. Puckett gave her a professionally mounted frame for her artwork as well as a certificate in recognition for her efforts.The Girls Basketball team was recognized for their winning season and the girls took the opportunity to award special treats to Coach Inloes.The Fourth Graders introduced their Community Service Project which is to sell animal-related products in the school store to raise money for the "Wild Animal Sanctuary."The Second Graders introduced their Community Service Project which is gathering canned goods for the Weld Food Bank.It was a busy assembly with much to celebrate!lllLAST COURAGE ASSEMBLYMay, 2015Our CUBS gathered for the last time as the entire school on Thursday, May 14th in the gymnasium. We celebrated our Track & Field team, Math Olympian representative, National History Day state participants, Math Multiplication Masters, Library Challenge Award winners, and ended the assembly with the school song.T-Time Teddies await the chance to go home with their new CUB friends.
