◊ ◊ ◊- Our last time together as the 2016-2017 CUBS!-On Thursday, May 18th Winograd CUBS large and small gathered together for one last time. Each year the highlight of our May assemblies is the awarding of the "T-Time Teddies." Every student who read consistently throughout the year was rewarded with a teddy bear and a book to take home with them.Fourth grade students announced that with the money they had earned in the school store, they were able to adopt a tiger at the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado. And May's Health Heroes (sixth graders Sylvia C. & Jayden B.) were also announced.The winners of the highest average daily attendance for Primary, Intermediate, and Middle School grades were acknowledged, and we awarded third grade Math Masters, drew from the last batch of COURAGE Awards, and were treated to music selections from the middle school band. The band also accompanied us as we sang the school song at the end of the assembly.It was a great day to be a CUB!

FEBRUARY COURAGE ASSEMBLY(See the slide show above for more awesome pictures.)All CUBS big and small gathered in the gymnasium on Thursday, February 16th for the February COURAGE Assembly. In addition to celebrating this month's COURAGE Award winners for showing Achievement, all Perfect Attendance winners were announced, the 3rd grade Multiplication Masters and one Division Master were also recognized by our middle school math teachers, and six students were awarded medals for completing Library Challenges.It's an impressive sight when all of each month's COURAGE Award winners are in one place.The Boys Basketball Coaches recognized all of the 7th and 8th grade athletes who represented our school well during their season.Ivan C. and Bella H. were this month's Health Heroes. Also, Mrs. Kinyon was happy to accept the trophy from Ms. Niccoli for the third graders who won the Highest Average Daily Attendance award for the Intermediate grades. (First grade won it for the Primary grades, and Sixth grade won it for the Middle School grades.)Third grade students encouraged all CUBS to help them gather mini bottles of shampoo and toilet paper to donate to our community members in need. And the Assembly ended with the traditional singing of the School Song.Solid As Steel....WINOGRAD!lllAPRIL COURAGE ASSEMBLY-Our awesome volunteers were IN THE HOUSE-The April COURAGE Assembly kicked off with Ms. Bressler introducing the fabulous Winograd volunteers that had helped support our learning for the past year. The group had been treated to a breakfast in the library, and then were able to join us for the beginning of the Assembly.The April COURAGE Award winners were announced.These CUBS show Excellence!T-Time award winners were announced by Mrs. Pedersen.Mrs. Tellez was thrilled to accept the award on behalf of the 5th grade class from Ms. Niccoli. The class had the Highest Average Daily Attendance for the month of April. The 2nd grade class won for the Primary grades, and the 6th grade class won for the Middle School grades. Also, Holly H. and Ty A.'s names were drawn as Health Heroes for displaying Healthy Choices this month.Middle School Math teachers recognized Third Grade students who became "Multiplication Masters" and "Division Masters" since our last assembly.And the whole school accompanied by the 7th Grade band, sang the School Song to end our awesome April Assembly.

And the Assembly ended with the traditional singing of the School Song.Winograd CUBS gathered in the gymnasium on Thursday, January 19th to celebrate the new year and recognize some of the great works our school does.We engaged in the usual recognitions of Highest Average Daily Attendance, T-Time winner drawings, January COURAGE Awards, ten 3rd grade Math Masters, and closing with the school song.Representatives from the North Colorado Medical Center Breast Center accepted a check for $238.00 that the Volleyball team had raised during their DIG PINK fundraiser.Winograd's first Health Heroes were selected in a drawing because they concentrated on living a healthy lifestyle everyday. (5210)Representatives from United Way accepted a check for $1,980.69 that all of our students raised during the fall United Way Children's Campaign. The monies raised will fund only the projects that help kids in our community.lllDECEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYMany On Thursday, December 15th our CUBS gathered in the gymnasium for our December COURAGE Assembly. Select CUBS from all grades were honored for showing Respect during the month of December. Also T-Time winners were drawn by Mrs. Pedersen.The Top Ten fundraisers were honored by the Parent/Teacher Organization for their efforts towards raising over $37,000.00 during this year's fundraiser. The money raised will be used to purchase technology in our school.Coach Mark Kwast recognized the middle school swimmers who took second during the season ending championship swim meet. Mr. Pell and Mrs. Tellez celebrated the 5th grade win of the intermediate level highest average daily attendance award. Eighth grade won the award for the middle school level, and 2nd Grade earned the trophy for the primary level.Middle School teachers Mrs. Haefeli, Mrs. Mick, and Mr. Hope awarded "Multiplication Masters" awards to eleven 3rd Grade students. And Librarian Miss Ryder awarded sixteen Library Reading Challenge awards to ten students.Sixteen sleds were awarded as COURAGE Awards to two students from Kindergarten - 7th grade. These sleds were decorated by 8th grade students to help our CUBS celebrate the "Season of COURAGE."And the assembly ended with an all-school sing-a-long led by our music teachers Miss Albertson and Mr. Rieder.lllOn Thursday, October 13th our CUBS gathered in the gymnasium for our October COURAGE Assembly.Miss Szabo too a great picture of how great our CUBS look when they are all together.All CUBS Kindergarten through Middle School received the COURAGE Awards for showing Optimism this month.T-Time drawing winners where happy to collect a free book, and Mr. Pell was presented three Highest Average Daily Attendance Awards. This one to Mrs. Turner who is a First Grade teacher.Mr. Pell, Ms. Niccoli, and Ms. Bressler help the CUBS celebrate how much money the school has raised during the United Way Student Campaign.And the Special Education students were recognized for their awesome representation of Winograd at the October Bowling meet. And as usual, we ended the day singing the school song accompanied by the band, and lead by Mrs. Warden.lllSEPTEMBER COURAGE ASSEMBLYOn Thursday, September 22nd our CUBS gathered in the gymnasium for our September COURAGE Assembly.A special treat of music was provided by the 7th & 8th grade band.Lots of CUBS received the first COURAGE Awards of the year. This month's focus was on Compassion.And Mr. Pell was excited to present one of the three Highest Average Daily Attendance Awards.Also, the first group of T-Time drawing books were distributed and we were treated to a skit by 8th graders. We ended the day singing the school song accompanied by the band, and lead by Mrs. Warden.It was a great day to be a CUB!
