Colorado Preschool Program
The Colorado Preschool Program (CPP) is a state-funded program designed to provide high-quality early childhood education to children for 1-2 years before entering Kindergarten with priority being placed on 4-year-olds. Children qualify for the program based on requirements set forth by the State of Colorado with a focus on children who need language development or who lack overall school and learning readiness. A vital component of CPP is to strengthen families and support them as participants in their child's education. CPP preschoolers attend school at our 5 community preschool locations: District 6 Early Childhood Center at Aims, District 6 Scott Preschool, ABC East, Early Childhood University and #1 Child Enrichment Center. The State of Colorado allocates to school districts a specific amount of preschool-funded slots. The funding allows preschoolers to attend preschool for 3 hours per day and 4 days per week (Tuesday through Friday) at no cost to families. We do not offer school transportation for students receiving Colorado Preschool Program funding. We do offer private pay preschool at all of our sites, please contact our office for more information.
We enroll students throughout the school year as space allows. Applications are reviewed every 3-4 weeks and families are notified via mail if their child is eligible for the program for the current or upcoming school year. We strongly recommend applying for the program in the spring before your child is ready to enter preschool. If you would like see if your child is eligible for the Colorado Preschool Program please pick up an application at the District 6 Early Childhood Center or at ABC East (please note that the applications must only be picked up and turned in at either site). A copy of your child's birth certificate, proof of residency (copy of lease, utility bill or house contract) and your child's most current physical and immunization records are required in order for the application to be processed; without these documents, your child's application will not be processed.
