Hello! My name is Denise Shannon, and have been teaching at Heiman ever since the doors opened in August of 2003. I have been very lucky to teach both first and second grades. I am currently the primary reading/ math interventionist.

 

I have three energetic children. My oldest daughter attends Colorado State University. My younger daughter attends Greeley Central High School. She enjoys the band and plays soccer. Lastly, my son will soon be entering middle school. I am a native of Colorado and grew up in Greeley. I received my BA at UNC and my Master's Degree in Reading Instruction and Curriculum from Grand Canyon University. I went to school, and worked for several years in both Kansas and Arizona before moving back to Colorado. 

 

Heiman is a wonderful school that focuses on the 4 B's of character: Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. 

 

I am here to encourage and help all students learn in multiple ways, including using manipulatives, exploration, teamwork, and discussion.
