Dear Shawsheen Parents and Students:
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! We are so happy you have chosen Shawsheen Elementary as the school of choice for your family. I would like to say how excited we are to see our kids. With many safety measures in place, we are ready to serve your children.
It is my privilege to have the opportunity to be your Principal and I feel honored to work with our highly qualified and dedicated staff, our wonderful students, and all of the supportive parents. Working together, I know we will have another successful school year. I am a lifelong educator and I am committed to the students and families of Greeley and Evans.
At Shawsheen, we believe that all students can learn and have developed a strong system of collaboration and support. We believe that each child is unique and precious. We have high expectations and provide rigorous instruction. Our staff believes in developing strong relationships and working closely with our students, families, and community. Our neighborhood school is committed to academic success and developing the skills of every child to ensure they are prepared for college, career, and a successful life!
In order to keep everyone safe, students and safe will be required to participate in a health screen daily. We will have health stations set up at different entrances around the school. As soon as students arrive at school, they must go to their assigned screening station, get their temperature taken, and go directly to their classroom. There will be no playing on the playground before school. Students are to go directly to their classroom. For safety, students will NOT be allowed on school grounds before 7:30 AM. Stations will receive students between 7:30 and 7:50 AM. Students arriving after 7:50 AM must report to the office for screening and attendance check-in.
Students can not come to school if they have any of the following symptoms: Temperature of 100 degrees or greater, cough, shortness of breath or difficult breathing, chills, muscles aches, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, or who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or symptoms.
I am looking forward to another exciting year. Please feel free to call or email if you have concerns or just want to visit. I look forward to our continued work with the outstanding families and students at Shawsheen.
