Today, we are announcing our plans to return to in-person learning on a phased schedule beginning in mid-January. We believe this phased plan will allow us to bring our youngest students back sooner, which we know is essential for their learning. The Board of Education reviewed the return to in-person learning plan at their regular meeting tonight, and they are supportive of implementation. Our Greeley Education Association Leadership is also supportive of proceeding with this plan. The Board meetings are live-streamed and a recording of this meeting is available on the District 6 YouTube channel.

Staff Update November 12, 2020: Remote Learning Through Winter Break

It is with great disappointment and a very heavy heart that I announce that all Greeley-Evans District 6 schools, including charter schools, must move to remote learning beginning next week through the Winter Break. The COVID-19 positivity rate in Weld County now exceeds 15 percent, and the number of positive cases and hospitalizations in Weld County, including Greeley and Evans, continues to increase at an alarming rate. We have seen a significant increase in positive cases among students and staff. Many of our schools have already been forced to go fully remote. To support the safety and well-being of our staff, students, and community members, we must make this move to remote learning. We plan to return to in-person learning following Winter Break on January 5, 2021. And, if this is not possible, we will share plans for the second semester by mid-December.

I indicated we are evaluating other offices, departments, and buildings to identify other possible adjustments to schedules and/or workspaces to minimize both the spread of the virus and the potential for quarantine. Cabinet worked to create guidelines that will be utilized in the event employees from other departments request to work from home. Please work directly with your supervisor if you have a need and they will let you know what the next steps are. Please be judicious in your requests, we still need to be able to provide excellent customer service.
