Hello families! My name is Brittney Mahaffey and I will be starting my first year here at Shawsheen Elementary, teaching 3rd grade! For the last two years, I taught 4th grade and my first year in the district, I worked as an Interventionist for reading and math. Before becoming a teacher, I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a major in Sociology and minors in Criminal Justice and Asian Studies before working as a Pretrial Case Manager for Weld County for 4 years. I feel that my diverse background helps me have a well-rounded approach to working with my students not just on an academic level but also on an individual level. I am excited to see what 3rd grade has in store for us! 

I love to spend time with my family and my dog, go fishing and boating, hike, decorate cakes and travel the world!
