Mrs. Sarah Gerbers, Second Grade

Dear 2nd Grade Families, I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome into my classroom for the 2019-2020 school year. My name is Mrs. Sarah Gerbers and I will be your child’s teacher this school year. This will be my ninth year teaching at Winograd K-8 school, but I come with vast experience as an elementary teacher.I have taught for ten years here in District 6, six of those years at Scott Elementary in 2nd grade and beginning my 9th year here at Winograd K-8. I graduated in 2004 with an Elementary Education Teaching degree from the University of Northern Colorado. After graduating, I substitute taught in the district for a semester before receiving the 2nd grade teaching position at Scott in the fall of 2005. Not only am I a teacher, but I am also a mother to my 9-year-old daughter Grace, and 7-year-old son Gunner. I have been married for 13 years and love spending time with my family. In my spare time I also enjoy playing with my children, making jewelry, reading,  exercising, and boating. Our favorite activity this summer was boating at the different lakes throughout Northern Colorado, and watching the rodeos at the Greeley Stampede and Cheyenne  Frontier Days. My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. I hold high expectations for all children despite their educational, physical, or emotional abilities. I believe that one of my jobs, as an educator is to help your child discover his or her uniqueness and work alongside with them to maximize their strengths and weaknesses alike. I strongly believe in hands-on experience to help children see each concept in a more concrete and unique way. Teaching is my passion and I look forward to working with your child to help him or her become the best they can be. I am looking forward to my fifth year here at Winograd and interacting with you and your child this upcoming school year. Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns you may have.

I look forward to working with you and your child in making this a successful second grade year! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to come by and visit. I am available before school from 7:30-7:45 am and after school from 3:45-4:00. However, the best way to contact me is through email.

Thank you,
Mrs. Gerbers
