Cultural Excellence & Family Engagement
The Department of Cultural Excellence and Family Engagement is dedicated to the constant and beautiful work of creating support in which our scholars and families will be engaged, empowered, and inspired about learning.
Family Engagement is a required component of Title I, the largest federal funded education program in the United States. Greeley-Evans School District 6 developed a Family Engagement Plan to provide opportunities to create partnerships among families, schools, and the community. This plan enables parents to be aware of educational expectations and become a full participant in their child's academic success. Greeley-Evans School District 6 is committed to working with parents and families to lower cultural barriers through mutual respect and understanding of the diverse backgrounds represented in the community. This commitment is an effort to increase communication between families and schools, which will positively impact student achievement.
Through the Family Engagement Plan, each Title I school holds activities during the school year for families as a support system to assist in their child's learning and achievement. These activities may include: family literacy, ESL (English) classes, technology classes, parenting education, community connections and family events. Classes and events emphasize a shared responsibility for improved student academic achievement

Title I
Title I, Part A, provides resources to help ensure that all children have the opportunity to receive a quality education, resulting in their attainment of high academic standards. Title I targets resources to districts and schools whose needs are the greatest.
Even though the amount of Title I funds a school and district may receive is based on poverty rates, the children that benefit from the program(s) are not, necessarily, just students of poverty. Rather, Title I programs work to address the needs of a school's lowest performing students and those students found to be at most risk for not meeting state academic standards.
No Child Left Behind brought greater accountability to Title I states, districts, and schools for improving the academic achievement of all students and turning around low-performing schools. When a Title school does not meet state standards, students have the choice to transfer to another school within the district.
Family Education Meetings (FEM)
Family Education Meetings are opportunities to build partnerships between schools and families to increase student achievement. These workshops provide parents with the information and resources to participate in the educational process and learn strategies to assist working with their children at home. Meetings are facilitated by the school and are interactive. Schools may provide information, practice, or materials for home use. Educational childcare for ages 3 through 5th grade is provided. Please contact your school for their Family Education Meetings schedule.
Parent Liaisons
Parent Liaisons main purpose is to support the implementation of family and community involvement in school and district, communicate to parents/community members the instructional goals of the school and assist with the assessment of the school’s parental involvement efforts.
