Wellness Week: March 2nd-6th
Participate in 15–60 minute sessions focused on supporting staff mental and physical health. Each session you attend earns you an entry into a prize drawing. Can’t make it live? No problem—prizes are also available for those who watch the session recordings by March 22. Links to recordings, handouts and sign in sheets are located at www.greeleyschools.org/wellnessweek . 5210+ Program: February 1st-28th
5210+ Program Starts February 1st, Spirit Day on January 30th
- 5210+ Spirit Day is on Friday, January 30th: district approved jeans day + wear your 5210+ shirt if you have one!
- Staff at early childhood, middle school, 6th-8th grade teachers at K-8s, high schools, Administration building, Service Center, Transportation, OIT & Facilities: sign up by February 6th at www.greeleyschools.org/5210signup . Prizes include a pair of 5210+ socks or long sleeve tech shirt
- Staff at elementary level: your school should already be signed up through Healthy Kids Club and all staff AND students are asked to participate! Ask your PE Teacher for a log and start tracking February 1! Prizes include a 5210+ t-shirt and up to $1,000 in prize money for your school!

Wellable: new wellness platform
D6 Worksite Wellness is excited to bring a new wellness platform to D6 staff this year. This will replace the Navigate platform. All employees should have received an email from Wellable with their temporary password. Email rhurshman@greeleyschools.org if you have any questions.

Biometrics + Annual Wellness Exam: $100-$150 incentive
Our onsite biometrics clinics have all been completed. However, if you missed those and still would like the $100 incentive, you can get your biometrics done at Banner Open Labs at North Colorado Medical Center. Banner Open Labs take place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Please call Lisa at 970-810-6633 to make an appt. Make sure to let them know you're with the school district so that your name is sent over to Wellable for the incentive. You can pay out of pocket to get additional lab values beyond the Hemoglobin A1C & Lipid panel provided. To earn the $150 for completing your annual wellness exam (or $50 if you already received the $100 biometrics incentive), login to your Wellable account at app.wellable.co and go to the Bulletin page. Then scroll down to the Annual Incentives section where you will find the Clinician Verification Form for your doctor to sign. You will also upload your signed form there. Finally, you will need to complete the Personal Wellness Assessment on your Wellable account to be eligible for the incentive.
Incentives are distributed the month after they are earned.
Nice Healthcare
Nice Healthcare is available at no cost to employees who have elected a district medical plan as well as their eligible dependents, which includes spouses, domestic partners, and children up to age 26 living in the household (even if the eligible dependents are not on district insurance)

Educator Wellbeing Support Line
The Well-Being Support Line is a free service for all educators and school employees including ECE, K-12 programs, and higher education. The support line is available to any educator across the state including teachers, administrators, para-professionals, health care teams, and support staff.
Individual Support Sessions are also available. They are a time for you to meet with a counselor and talk about whatever may be on your mind. These sessions are about one hour and focus on problem solving or developing strategies to improve your well-being. Up to 5 sessions with the same provider available and take place over Zoom.
This resource has been referred to as the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for school staff at the state level. This is separate and in addition to District 6's Resources for Living EAP (see link in menu to the left).

CollegeInvest: free jump-start college savings program
First Step by CollegeInvest is a free jump-start college savings program passed by the Colorado legislature that benefits any child born or adopted in the state of Colorado on or after January 1, 2020.
Participation in the First Step Program is FREE! You can open a plan with $0. First, choose your plan. Then, when you get to Initial Contribution during the enrollment process, simply check the box for “Personal Check.” CollegeInvest will then deposit $115 into your account after you enroll in First Step!
As an additional benefit for parents and legal Guardians who enroll in First Step, CollegeInvest will match $500 per year of your savings for 5 years – totaling up to $2,500 in gift contributions (free money!) from CollegeInvest.

Nutrition
Culinary Classroom Demo
Culinary Classroom is a student Wellness resource that offers nutrition education and cooking skills to classes across D6. We offer lessons to students in grades K-12 at no cost to the school or teacher. The brief nutrition education lesson is reinforced with a in-class cooking class where students get to have hands on practice. Let us come to your school and provide a hands-on demonstration with your staff and talk more about the benefits of cooking in the classroom.
Superpower Your Meals
Tips and tricks on how to increase nutrition, health, and taste in your daily routine. making large changes to your diet can be daunting, but with small tweaks and additions, you can enhance your current regime with ease. Example: Keeping frozen spinach in your freezer and adding it to dishes such as eggs, soups, or pasta dishes adds a punch of nutrients with little effort.
Physical Activity
Incorporating Physical Activity into the Classroom
Dig into the research and highlight the benefits of incorporating Physical Activity into the Classroom. From a 30-second Fit Stick Brain energizer to Walking Classroom to support core curriculum lessons, Student Wellness resources are available to help bring physical activity into daily classroom routines. This session will be interactive. Be ready to try out all the options!

The Student Wellness team in District 6 is here to support ALL of our students and promote academic success. In this presentation, we will share and demonstrate the wide range of resources available to D6 staff. From non-food rewards to healthy celebrations party kits, our goal is to make healthy choices the easy choice.
Wellness Throughout the Day
How to set yourself up for success each and every day with a routine and schedule that promotes wellness. Example: Setting your morning alarm 15 minutes before your normal wake-up to practice self-care and calm your mind before the day begins.
How to Improve Your Numbers
Did you participate in biometrics screenings and now are wondering, "now what, what do I do to improve my numbers and ultimately my wellbeing?". This GOOGLE CLASSROOM was created to share with you videos and follow up resources developed by our own Dietetic interns and Graduate-level practicum students. - Set the materials up in the breakroom for staff to test out
- Use in a staff meeting or professional development day to re-focus the group
- Start a before or after school mindfulness practice group
Kit Contents & Tips for Use
- Yoga mat: includes diagrams of poses on the mat.
- Yoga cards: pick a card and try a pose. Posture cards, breath cards, warm-up cards, om card and meditation cards included, along with more detailed instructions. Try a few in a staff meeting!
- Yoga blanket: use to support various poses. Can provide cushioning for knees, can help tilt pelvis forward while in seated position, which allows the back to lengthen. Use under front hip while in pigeon pose.
- Meditation Cushion: find your center and sustain it for deeper meditation using a meditation bolster, which lifts your hips and allows them to roll slightly forward, supporting the natural curve of your low back. Typically you sit with crossed legs.
- Mindfulness Card Deck: “help build skills of awareness, compassion and presence for what matters in your daily life.” Try a few at a staff meeting!
- Chime with mallet: the resonating sound helps us to focus and redirect our attention. Gently hit the chime with the mallet one time and listen intently until you can no longer hear the sound. Use in a staff meeting to re-focus the group. Engage mindful listening skills.
- Essential Oils: “highly concentrated versions of the natural oils found in plants”. See inside of box for which essential oils are used for what. Place 4-6 drops essential oil in the diffuser along with water for a pleasant aroma and possible therapeutic effects.
- Oil diffuser: remove top, fill to the line with water, plug in. Put 4-6 drops essential oil in water and press “ON”. 1 hour, 3 hour, 6 hour settings available, along with various color lights
- Mindful Eating Workbook: “[Mindful eating] changes your relationship with food and with your body…it changes the way you engage with the world”. Use the workbook to guide your practice. Note: please make copies as needed. Do not write in the workbook.
- Trigger point massage tool: instructions included with kit. Use to help release tight muscles.
- Noise canceling headphones: tune out background noise to get in the zone
- Coloring book: bring stillness and peace to your mind through coloring!
- Colored pencils: for use with coloring book.
- Disinfecting wipes: help us keep materials clean and in good working order for all employees!

The Colorado Quitline can help individuals prepare a quit plan, set a quit date, understand tobacco triggers, manage craving, get back on track after relapses.
The Quitline offers planning and educational materials, coaching via phone/email/chat/text, nicotine quit medications, and membership in an online community.
