D6 Athlete of the Week: Izack Davila, Northridge High School

"Izack had an outstanding senior season with the Northridge wrestling team. He began the year competing for a varsity position and finished it by earning a spot at the 4A State Wrestling Tournament at Ball Arena - a testament to his perseverance and work ethic. Throughout his final high school season, he demonstrated relentless grit and determination.

At Northridge, our motto is 'One who conquers oneself, conquers all.' Izack truly embodied that belief, overcoming personal challenges that had hindered him in previous seasons and proving his growth both on and off the mat." - Easton Ramirez, Wrestling Coach

"My biggest achievement in my sport is how I overcame the adversity that came my way, and I made it to State."

What's one goal you're currently working towards in your sport?

"To become a State Champion."

Describe your worst sports performance. What did you learn from this experience?

"My worst sports performance was when I went into matches nervous and in my head. What I learned from those experiences is to go out, have fun, and never overlook anyone."

Who are your role models in your sport or life, and how have they influenced you?

"My role models are my uncles and my mom because when they're tired or down, they always find a way to keep pushing and moving forward."

How do you balance sports with other responsibilities like school or work?

"I balance school and sports by being a student then an athlete. School comes first then your sports."

What are your career or college plans after you graduate high school?

"My plan after high school is to continue wrestling at the college level."

What advice do you have for younger athletes who want to join your sport?

"My advice to younger athletes is to just have fun, make friends, and focus on school because it goes by way too fast."

Do you have any funny pre-game rituals or superstitions that you stick to?

"My pregame ritual is to mess around with teammates, listen to music, warm up, and adapt to the environment around me."

If you were to participate in a talent show unrelated to your sport, what would your act be?

"If I had to participate in a talent show, I would probably do dance, even though I don't know how to dance."
