D6 Athlete of the Week: Lexi Jamsay, Frontier Academy

D6 Athlete of the Week: Lexi Jamsay, Frontier Academy

"Lexi has shown that pure hard work will pay off. Despite struggling to score, she remained a threat in our attack, and took more pride in her defensive duties. She bought into this program from day one, and has continued to grow every day. I am super proud of her so far, and I know she will continue to work on and off the field." - Nick Kuykendall, Soccer Coach

"An achievement I'm most proud of is getting CHSAA/MaxPreps All-State Honorable Mention! I am proud of this because, during this season, I was injured. Even though for half of it I couldn't play, when I got the opportunity, I gave it my all, and ended up earning honorable mention!"

What are your goals for this season?

"My goals for this season is to help my team make it farther into playoffs than we ever have and potentially win state. Most importantly though, continue loving the sport as much as possible since it's my last year!"

Who are your role models in your sport or life, and how have they influenced you?

"My biggest role model is my mom. She has influenced me a lot growing up. Even though she worked a lot, she still always made so much time for my siblings and me. Even though she was busy, she always put her loved ones first. I want to be like that some day."

How do you manage the balance between academics and athletics? What strategies have been most effective for you?

"To manage academics and athletics, I have learned to space my time out well. Since I have free time between class and practice, I will make sure to get my homework done before practice, so then I can have a clear mind at practice!"

How do you handle pressure and maintain mental resilience during high-stakes competition?

"I used to always get into my head during moments in the game that were considered high pressure, but I've learned that the best thing I can do is tell myself only good outcomes. And, I think of what I want to happen and not what I'm scared of happening!"

What are your career or college plans after you graduate high school?

"After I graduate high school, I plan on going to Grand Canyon University (GCU) in Arizona to study Business."

What advice do you have for younger athletes who want to join your sport?

"My advice to younger athletes is to always believe in yourself. Sometimes we can be our own worst critics, and we have to always remember that to get where we want to be in our sport, we must always believe in ourselves."

Do you have any funny pre-game rituals or superstitions that you stick to?

"A funny ritual that I will sometimes do is put my left sock on my right foot and right sock on my left foot! The one I love most though is listening to worship music in the car on my way to each game, and praying with my team before to play well!"

If you were to participate in a talent show unrelated to your sport, what would your act be?

"If I were to be in a talent show, I would definitely choose any type of funny rap song that I know all the words to, and I'd sing it for everyone!"
