Greeley Central Wildcat named recipient of Wiedeman Scholarship

Abigail Tovar, a student at Greeley Central High School, received a special surprise during the March 9, 2026 Board of Education meeting. Abigail was selected by the Weld Community Foundation as the recipient of the prestigious Wiedeman Scholarship.

While she was attending the meeting as part of her regular duties on the Council of Student Representatives, her family quietly arrived along with representatives from the Weld Community Foundation to surprise her with the news and present her with a check for $80,000.

In 2021, a generous gift from the estate of Wilbert Wiedeman established two scholarship funds at the Weld Community Foundation. These scholarships support students from Greeley Central High School and Windsor High School. Each year, the scholarships are awarded to highly motivated students with financial need who are actively involved in their schools and communities.
