"Our school culture, specifically because of our school admin team, is the reason that I have not only stayed within D6, but stayed in education in general. If it weren't for Meredith, I can almost guarantee that I would have left education after the first year. Our school is small enough that coworkers feel more like family than they do coworkers. I could not imagine working anywhere else or for anyone else. The hard work that you put in does not go unseen. I come to work every day knowing that I am a valued member of our team."   

When you think about your experience in our district, what makes you feel proud to work here? 

"Although I do not live in Greeley and have never claimed Greeley as my home, I have slowly fallen in love with the community over the last 4 years. The families that I have been fortunate to meet and how close knit  the community is truly is special. I love that you usually know someone who knows someone." 

What keeps you feeling connected to and supported by our school community? 

"The families. The close knit community. The fact that our D6 community can come together after tragic events. Our year started with a funeral for a student, and the amount of familiar faces I saw was heartwarming. It was a terrible situation, but it just showed that we can come together to overcome some of the most difficult moments."  

What's a fun fact about your job? 

"I have been fortunate enough to interact with our former students outside of a school setting. Former students have asked me to go to funerals; I have had former students ask me to be at the hospital for the births of their children. I have gone to Denver to watch a kid give his oath at MEPS prior to joining the Army in place of his family. I guess a fun fact about my job is knowing how much of an impact I have had on some of the students I was fortunate enough to build relationships with. Also, we don't typically have students on Fridays."  

What is one experience with a student or staff member that left a lasting, positive impact on you? 

"Somewhat similar to the answer above, but the students and their families that always reach back out have a positive impact on me. Every holiday, I wake up to messages from former students wishing me a Merry Christmas, Happy 4th, etc. Students that have joined the military always update me on where in the world they are. Just last week, I woke up to a message from a kid who was in Djibouti, followed by another message apologizing for the text that came through in the middle of the night because he had forgotten the time difference. Students and their families reaching out years after graduation always grounds me and reminds me that I must be doing something right and how fortunate I am to serve this community. 

When I have been at some of the lower spots in my life, all of my coworkers supported me in more ways than I could've ever imagined. Meredith goes above and beyond to ensure her staff is taken care of and feel appreciated and cared for. Her guidance, mentorship, and friendship will always be something I am forever grateful for."
