Years of Service in District 6

13 years

"District 6 and Early College Academy have provided me with countless learning opportunities to define my craft as a teacher and also advance my knowledge of academic leadership. Being able to grow as a professional makes me feel extremely valued. This makes me want to stay and continue to learn and be part of the team that is changing our students' lives and futures."

When you think about your experience in our district, what makes you feel proud to work here?

"I am extremely proud of the progress we have made throughout the district in student achievement and the opportunities we provide for our students and their families. From my experience, we have diversified our offerings at the high school level to provide a wide range of academic programs that prepare students for their individual futures."

What keeps you feeling connected to and supported by our school community?

"I genuinely feel cared for by my colleagues, administration and most importantly my students. The relationships I have built with my school community keep me feeling connected, supported, and motivated."

What's a fun fact about your job?

"I wear many hats. In addition to teaching math and physical education, I also get to be the sponsor of Student Council, partner with the Attendance Team, organize our State Testing, and I even get to drive the activity bus on occasion for fun events. I love the variety of tasks I get to jump into each day."

What is one experience with a student or staff member that left a lasting, positive impact on you?

"When I transitioned from teaching 8th grade at Franklin Middle School to Early College Academy High School, a few students joined me. One of them in particular left a lasting positive impact on me and my teaching career. I had the rare opportunity to witness this student grow in all areas of his life. He became fluent in English, realized his own leadership skills by joining many clubs, and pushed himself academically to earn a full ride to the University of Northern Colorado where he graduated with his Bachelor's Degree two years later. I am so proud of the well rounded person he has become. I refer to him often. This example reminds me that opportunities matter, and our students will thrive when given the chance and relentless support. I truly know that our students' lives are changed by the choice we make each day to be kind and support their stories."
