Ms. Jess Markanich
After graduating from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in 2011, Jess received a softball scholarship to South Dakota State University. Throughout her years at SDSU, she dedicated her time and commitment to the Jackrabbit Softball Program as well as receiving her bachelor's in Physical Education Teacher Education with a minor in Health Education.
In 2016, after graduating from college, she started working at McKinley Elementary as a Physical Education Teacher, JV Girls Soccer Coach, and Middle School Pole Vault Coach. From 2017 to 2021, she began working at Watertown Middle School as a Physical Education and Health Education Teacher. While at WMS, she continued her passion for coaching JV Girls Soccer, Strength and Conditioning, and Middle School Pole Vault, Long Jump, and High Jump.
In 2020, she furthered her passion for her career by getting accepted into the Masters's program at Concordia University Chicago in Applied Exercise Science with a concentration for Strength and Conditioning. In May of 2022, she graduated with her Master's of Applied Exercise Science and plans to get her CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification by 2023.
In 2021, Jess accepted a teaching position at Greeley West High School as a Physical Education and Health Teacher where she teaches a wide variety of classes.
