AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. This is an elective course designed to help students gain organizational skills, learn to better take notes and balance their time, help students develop study skills, and work collaboratively. The goal of AVID is to help prepare students for their post-secondary path. 

At JHS we have two AVID teachers, Vero Garcia and Sean Sorrell. Our AVID coordinator is Trish Thompson. Any of these staff can answer questions about AVID and how to be a part of the AVID elective course.
