Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to Kindergarten, Class of 2033! I am so excited to have you in my class! This is my 13th year in Kindergarten at Christa McAuliffe. I've also taught Kindergarten and First Grade at several other schools in District Six. I believe Kindergarten is one of the most important steps in a child's formal education. It is where most children learn to read and write independently and become mathematicians as well. It is a place to share information about your life and also where you will learn how to be a great friend. Our classroom is a place where each personality can shine; a fun place and a safe place to learn. I hope when you leave Kindergarten, that you will love to learn and will have the confidence to succeed.
I grew up in a family of educators. My mom, grandma, aunt and sister-in-law were all teachers. I graduated from The University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Elementary Education. I also have an endorsement in Linguistically Diverse Education.
I have been married for 34 years. My husband Steve and I met in junior high here in Greeley. I have 3 sons: Matt and Jay, who are grown and live and work in Greeley and Brian, who is attending Law School in another state. Our grandson Tate, also fills our lives with joy! Our family includes Dexter, our miniature schnauzer.
My greatest hobby is spending time with my family; visiting and laughing together. I enjoy taking care of my flower garden. I love classic movies from the 50's and 60's and enjoy musicals, too. I collect beautiful elephant figurines from around the world.
Teaching is not only what I help my students to learn. It's also what they teach me, that is so rewarding.
I hope you'll enjoy learning in Kindergarten as much as I enjoy teaching it. It's going to be a wonderful school year!
