Chris Aguilera-Carreon

Hello! My name is Chris Aguilera-Carreon.   I am the School Social Worker.  Many staff, parents, and students know me by Ms. Chris.  I currently share my time at Chappelow and neighboring school.  I graduated from CSU-Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands University.

I am a Colorado Native but have lived in different states.  I moved back to Colorado from New Mexico about 5 years ago.  During my time away from Colorado, I have held different positions in community agencies and schools.  In New Mexico, I was a School Social Worker at different grade levels, with the most recent being middle through high school.

Living in both Colorado and New Mexico, I grew to enjoy the land, the food, and culture.  I enjoy fishing, camping, cooking, and going for long walks.  I especially enjoy being with my family, my pets, and have a love for New Mexico Red and Green Chili!

My role as a School Social Worker is to help you and your child be successful in school.  I am available to students and families who are in need of brief interventions such as individual and/or connections to community resources.  I also provide individual and small group counseling, and crisis intervention.  I collaborate with schools and provide services to help students and their families to adjust to social, emotional, and life adjustments at school, or outside of school.  I work with students, their families, the school, and the community to help promote your child’s academic and social success.

¡Hola! Mi nombre es Chris Aguilera-Carreón. Soy la trabajadora social de la escuela. Muchos miembros del personal, padres y estudiantes me conocen como la Sra. Chris. Actualmente comparto mi tiempo en Chappelow y la escuela vecina. Me gradué de CSU-Pueblo y de New Mexico Highlands University.

Soy nativo de Colorado pero he vivido en diferentes estados. Regresé a Colorado desde Nuevo México hace unos 5 años. Durante mi tiempo fuera de Colorado, he ocupado diferentes puestos en agencias comunitarias y escuelas. En Nuevo México, fui trabajadora social escolar en diferentes niveles de grado, siendo el más reciente desde la escuela media hasta la secundaria.

Al vivir tanto en Colorado como en Nuevo México, llegué a disfrutar de la tierra, la comida y la cultura. Disfruto pescar, acampar, cocinar y dar largas caminatas. ¡Disfruto especialmente estar con mi familia, mis mascotas y me encanta el chile rojo y verde de Nuevo México!

Mi función como trabajadora social escolar es ayudarle a usted y a su hijo a tener éxito en la escuela. Estoy disponible para estudiantes y familias que necesitan intervenciones breves, como conexiones individuales y/o con recursos comunitarios. También proporciono asesoramiento individual y en grupos pequeños e intervención en crisis. Colaboro con escuelas y brindo servicios para ayudar a los estudiantes y sus familias a adaptarse a los ajustes sociales, emocionales y de vida en la escuela o fuera de la escuela. Trabajo con los estudiantes, sus familias, la escuela y la comunidad para ayudar a promover el éxito académico y social de su hijo.
