Welcome to Jefferson High School
After more than a decade of helping students graduate in a 1950s repurposed elementary school, we are proud to be opening a new state-of-the-art building.
Each year, around 150 students earn their high school diploma and are eagerly entering college or the workforce. Most incoming students are required to interview with an administrator. These interviews allow for a personal one-on-one conversation between the student and administrator which addresses the specific needs of each individual student and the expectations of Jefferson High School. Many students enter this school behind on credits and for various other reasons. Given these circumstances, Jefferson works on a quarter system (rotating classes every nine weeks) instead of a semester system (rotating classes every 15 weeks); therefore, students are able to make up and earn credits at a fast enough rate to get back on track to graduate with their class.
This school is unique, as it can be considered a “Discovery School,” meaning all faculty and every student is trained in using the Discovery communication model which utilizes skills useful in becoming independently functioning individuals. Through this model, staff and students are viewed as equals and work together to make each student’s experience positive and productive. Jefferson High School is proud of the culture it has built over the last decade+ as it harnesses an environment full of supportive and effective administrators, teachers, counselors, and other support persons.
