About Teacher

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jennifer Bergenheier

I am excited about joining the Dos Rios Family! My name is Jennifer Bergenheier and I am the Gifted and Talented Specialist Jackson Elementary, as well as at Bella Romero Academy, Dos Rios Elementary, and Shawsheen Elementary. I came to District 6 from Northern Nevada, where I taught for 29 years at the same school. I worked as a 4th grade teacher, ran our district’s gifted and talented program, and most recently was the music teacher.

I am married and have two grown sons who love baseball and lots of other sports. Before we moved to Nevada, I lived in Meeker, Colorado and I am a graduate of UNC. I enjoy reading historical fiction and biographies, and watching true crime dramas (especially the British ones!), and working in my yard.

I am so glad to be a Gifted and Talented Specialist again! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you or your child on their road to academic success.

For information on understanding giftedness, identification, and web sites for parents, educators, and students, visit our Gifted and Talented section on the DISTRICT GT LINK.

My primary responsibilities are:

To collect data and identify students whose abilities and talents require special programming.

To work closely with teachers to ensure that they have the resources and support they need when working with gifted and talented students in their classrooms.

To partner with students and their families to support student strengths, challenges, and personal goals.

And to work directly with gifted and talented students on extensions and projects designed with their needs in mind.
