Grade: 6,7,8 Art

Hello!  My name is Alison Myers, and the 2018-2019 school year will be my 14th year at Chappelow!  It has been so nice to get to know all of the students and families and to grow with all of you, as well as welcome new students and families to our school.  This will be my 4th year teaching Middle Level Art, and I will be working at school half time.  I currently teach 1st hour, 2nd hour, and 4th hour Art classes, as well as a Middle Level Art Club on Thursdays during lunch.

There are some exciting things happening in Art this year.  Middle Level Art classes will have an open studio format, with an emphasis on the Artistic Process and Artistic Behaviors such as inspiration, creativity, observation, building skills, etc... Art class will be an exploration of a variety of art media and techniques, in an environment where students have the opportunity to self select art materials and subject matter according to their interests and passions.  I am also looking forward to helping our 8th grade students continue to develop their portfolios, as well as prepare for our annual 8th grade Art Showcase!  UNC After School Art Classes will continue in the Fall, and there will be several opportunities to display our Art in the community.
