Be sure you talk to Mr. Seematter or the new assistant coach Ms. Wallin about your interest in the team, so we can communicate with you about upcoming events.Contact InfoMr. SeematterMs. WallinClub Description:
The Northridge Debate and Forensics Team is made up of about 45 NHS students that range from freshmen to seniors. Each weekend of the season, we engage in verbal competition with local high schools. Students perform scenes, deliver speeches or debate with other students to determine who reigns supreme on that given weekend. The full breakdown of events can be found at http://www.speechanddebate.org . Additionally, the debate and forensics team, in large part due to the number of hours spent at competitions, becomes more like a family. There is a ton of support for every member of the team, and that makes the victories all the more important!
Other:
It is Mr. Seematter and Ms. Wallin's contention that being involved in debate and forensics is one of the most beneficial activities a high school student can participate in because the range of events allows students to develop excellent communication abilities, which in the 21st century is becoming one of the most sought after skills in the job market. Interpersonal communication will always matter in our world, and there is no better way to develop those abilities than through debate and forensics.Thank you to our sponsors:The Speech and Debate team had a tremendously successful State Qualifying meet:Jasmyne Colin alternate in poetryLanetta Cervantes alternate in Informative
