Ms. Shawna Roth

Grade: 2nd

Hello! Welcome to 2nd grade!   I am very excited to teach 2nd grade at Maplewood Elementary this year!

I began my teaching career in 1999 at Jefferson Elementary after graduating from UNC. I started as the technology teacher, but when a 5th grade teaching position opened, I jumped at the chance to teach the grade that was my favorite as a child! I returned to UNC a few years later for a Master's in Reading. I also had the unique opportunity to be the administrative intern for a year while I took some education leadership classes at UNC. I decided to return to teaching for the 2010-2011 school year when Maplewood became an elementary school. I went back to spending my days with 5th graders.  At the end of the 2015-2016 school year, I had the opportunity to move into Maplewood's Library. While in the library, I was able to share my love of reading with all of the scholars at Maplewood.  I loved working with all of our scholars but missed having my own classroom!  At the end of the 2021-2022 school year, I had the opportunity to go back into the classroom as a 2nd grade teacher for the next school year!    I am looking forward to spending my days with 2nd grader scholars and teachers!

I have lived in Greeley since I was in 2nd grade. I attended Shawsheen Elementary, Franklin Middle School, Heath Junior High, and Greeley Central. I am a proud member of Greeley Central's class of '91.

I live in Greeley with my dog Jefferson, and my cat, Tisha.   I enjoy spending time with friends and family on the weekends.  I love to travel!   I have gone to the Dominican Republic and Panama in the past couple of years.  To relax, I enjoy reading a good book in my hammock!
