Prairie Heights Middle School

Notification of Road Closure
Prairie Heights Middle School contractors will be closing the intersection of 37th St. and 65th Ave. on Monday, August 4, as part of the continuing off-site street improvements for the new Middle School.  The work will involve sewer and water main installations on 37th St. and water main placement on 65th Ave. South of the intersection.  Along with the utility enhancements, road improvements with lane additions and widening, and the installation of a traffic signal will be done.  This work is scheduled to be completed on October 15, 2014, and during construction activities only local traffic will be permitted in the work zones.

Prairie Heights Middle School

Plans are underway for the construction of a new middle school, slated to open by the fall of 2015. In November, voters approved an $8.2 million bond, used to pay the 28 percent local match for a Building Excellent Schools Today grant. The issue passed with  nearly 59 percent of the vote. Through the BEST grant, the John Evans replacement school project will receive 72 percent funding from the State of Colorado. The new school is now being designed and construction should begin in the winter of 2014. We plan to build the best middle school in the state, with the latest
technology and design innovations.

The High Performance design features include:
- Day lighting in every classroom
- Roof monitors that bring daylight into the “main street”
