My name is Ms. Mays, and I am pleased to be able to teach fifth grade at Ann K. Heiman in the 2018-2019 school year. I have been a part of this wonderful community for six years. I am a mother of a third grader who keeps me very busy.  We like to travel and go camping. I enjoy being outdoors as much as possible.  My favorite place to be is the ocean; I am an artist at heart, so I like to bring art into the classroom whenever possible. I am a lifelong learner and excited about our learning journey together this year.  I love teaching, learning, and laughing so I guess you could say I have the best job!

I am dedicated to teaching the whole child through supporting goals, enforcing expectations, and believing that each child has unlimited potential.  Having a unique background in counseling helps me remain objective and honest when resolving conflict. I embrace change and thrive on innovation in my own job while supporting the strengths and ideas of others to build on their passions.  Relationships and reaching out to our community is very important to me. We will  focus on our individual celebrations and how we all fit in to make a well rounded community within our classroom and the world around us. Our classroom is built on trust and being a part of something cohesive.  We will learn how to blend and adapt to our environment allowing us to take academic risks to take control and own our education.
