My name is Ms. Mays, and I am pleased to teach art at Ann K. Heiman in the 2022-2023 school year. I have been a part of this wonderful community for 11 years. I am the mother of a teenager who keeps me very busy.  We like to travel and go camping. I enjoy being outdoors as much as possible.  My favorite place to be is the ocean; I am an artist at heart, so I am very excited about being an art teacher. I am a lifelong learner and excited about our learning journey together this year.  I love teaching, learning, and laughing, so I guess you could say I have the best job!

I am dedicated to teaching the whole child through supporting goals, enforcing expectations, and believing that each child has unlimited potential.  Having a unique background in counseling helps me remain objective and honest when resolving conflicts. I embrace change and thrive on innovation in my own job while supporting the strengths and ideas of others to build on their passions.  Relationships and reaching out to our community is very important to me. We will focus on our individual celebrations and how we all fit in to make a well rounded community using art to make connections with the world around us. Our art room is built on trust and being a part of something cohesive.  We will learn how to blend and adapt to our environment, allowing us to take academic risks to take control and own our education.
