Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Holly Gilbert
My name is Holly Gilbert, and this will be my 6th year teaching first grade. Prior to teaching, I attended CSU where I received my bachelor's in human development and family studies. From there, I went to Metropolitan State University in Denver where I received my master's in elementary education. I am so excited that I will have the opportunity to teach your kiddos this year. It is always a learning experience for everyone!
I believe our classroom thrives on mutual respect and a never ending curiosity for learning. we are all leaders and have something to contribute. I can't wait to see how your children shine and grow this school year!
Some of my interests and passions are: hiking, going on bike rides, playing with my two dogs (Joey and Ellie), watching the broncos play, and relaxing with my husband, Adam, our sone Liam, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby girl in November!
Homework Policy: In first grade, homework is sent home weekly on Friday's. Students will receive a reading packet that is a review of the skills we practiced that week, a math worksheet, and a reading log (they are expected to read 5 days a week for 20 minutes each day - keep in mind, your child's reading packet can count towards these minutes). While most homework can be done independently, it is important to support your child and review their work so they continue to progress. Homework is due the following Thursday in the morning. Please expect homework to be sent home every week, unless you hear otherwise from the first grade team.
Open and respectful communication is key to your child's educational success so feel free to contact me with any thoughts, questions, or concerns you may have!
