Josef Schaffer

6th Grade Math

Following a career change, Josef Schaffer is starting his fourth year teaching at Franklin Middle School and his seventh year in education. He is the 6th-grade math teacher and grade level lead at the school. Schaffer is originally from Ohio and attended college at  Youngstown State University to study Exercise Science, Southern Illinois University for his masters in Physical Education and Sports Administration, and finally the University of Northern Colorado for his teaching degree.  Coach Schaffer also coaches football, wrestling, and track and field at Franklin and believes that there are many qualities that cross over between life, sports, and the classroom.

Outside of school, Mr. Schaffer enjoys spending time with his 2 daughters, working out, competing in powerlifting, and many outdoor activities.

Coach Schaffer believes there should be a strong feeling of community, safety, and long-lasting relationships formed both in the classroom and on a sports team, and Franklin does a great job at creating these feelings and fostering a place where students want to be at.
