I was born and raised in a small town outside of Saint Louis, Missouri called Ballwin. As a child, my family dedicated their lives to creating a loving and safe environment for my sister and me. With the encouragement from my AP Statistics teacher, who would constantly sacrifice his free time to help students succeed, I decided to become an educator. To this day, I strive to emulate his model as I teach.
I enrolled at the University of Missouri – Saint Louis upon graduating high school. I studied Secondary Education in English, and during this time, I obtained a certificate in Gender Studies with emphases in Theory and Literature. Upon graduating, I taught Honors English 9 and English 11 at Eureka High School in the Rockwood School District in 2014. That next summer, my husband and I traveled to Indonesia to assist a university in documenting the growth of non-primary religions within the country. In July of 2015, my husband and I were married, and I spent the school year working primarily in a sixth grade classroom.
Living and working in Missouri was a joy, but my husband and I had always dreamed of living in the mountains, so we moved to Lyons, Colorado when I accepted this position. I knew the moment I set foot in the door, that Northridge was the place where I wanted to make a difference in the lives of students. The school had a warm feel; it was unique, and I felt at home. I am excited to begin to begin this new school year, meet new students, and grow as an educator within this loving community!
It is my belief that every student can learn. My role as an educator is to facilitate learning and to foster students’ growth into adulthood. The value of a good education cannot be overstated, and it is my hope to always provide a safe environment for students to learn. Northridge High School’s five core values (Determination, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Integrity) are values that I support whole-heartedly inside and outside the classroom. I look forward to this new journey in my life!
Fun Things to Know About Me:
I love all outdoor activities, especially hiking. I enjoy reading books, watching movies, and simply relaxing on the weekends. My favorite movie director is Christopher Nolan, and my all-time favorite books are Of Mice and Men and Gone With the Wind. Since I am from Saint Louis, I am a fan of Cardinals baseball and Blues hockey; but do not worry, I am a diehard Broncos fan! Please feel free to email or call me if you have any questions. Have a great day!
