Caitlin teaches kindergarten. She has a master's degree in curriculum and instruction with a focus on urban education. She is passionate about social emotional learning, diversity in education, working with second language learners. She is a co-founder who believes all students deserve equal access to education.

Emilie is in her 6th year of teaching, but this is her first year at TSOI. She is passionate about hands-on learning and design thinking and has spent a great deal of time learning about the two before coming to The Fred Tjardes School of Innovation.

David currently teaches in the middle school. He is in the process of finishing his master's degree in Educational Psychology a the University of Northern Colorado. He is passionate about divergent thinking and hands-on learning. He is a co-founder who believes students learn by doing.

Courtney Luce

Courtney is a TSOI co-founder with a master’s degree in teaching English. She currently teaches in the education department at UNC and is finishing her PhD in Educational Psychology. She is passionate about finding how students become motivated to learn and looks forward to sharing administrative duties with the other co-founders.

Coral holds a master's of curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in reading and has a wealth of experience teaching in early childhood, first grade, and as an interventionist. She enjoys collaborating with parents and staff to best meet student needs at TSOI.

Micah is a fairly recent graduate from UNC and is excited to be in her third year teaching with us! This is Micah's first year teaching middle school and she is excited to work with this age group. Micah also brings with her an emphasis in visual arts integration and mathematics that she loves to incorporate into her teaching.

Patrick has a master’s degree in elementary education and has been teaching since 1986. Patrick also brings experience creating and opening a new school in New York and is excited to begin his third year teaching at TSOI.

Building Facilitator

If there is something you need at TSOI, Austin is likely the person with whom to start. Austin is the office manager, the health clerk, the attendance secretary, and the building manager. He also teaches exploratory classes with topics ranging from woodshop, to entrepreneurship, to sewing.
