  • At District 6, we are committed to the social and emotional health of our staff, students, and families, especially in these uncertain times. Taking care of our emotional health is critically important. Below, you will find resources to support you and your family to grow your strength and resilience.  

    Mental health is not simply the absence of mental illness, but also the social, emotional, and behavioral habits that help us successfully respond to life’s challenges. With youth mental health concerns on the rise, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills can help provide a foundation of protective factors for children that can lessen their vulnerability to mental health concerns.  District 6 strives to provide opportunities through the teaching of SEL lessons as well as the responsive counseling services to strengthen student sense of purpose, resilience, and overall wellbeing.  

    How to access mental health support

    1. Contact your student's school where the building Mental Health Team including school counselors, school social workers, school psychologists, and school-based North Range Behavioral Health Therapists, work closely with teachers and administrators to identify and support students with counseling needs and other social-emotional supports. 
    2. If you have a general concern and the situation is not urgent, you can contact your school counselor lead through the email link under your student's school.
    3. You may also complete a referral for support and resources HERE and a mental health provider will reach out within 24 hours of the next working day to support you with your concern.

    We know that we have to be intentional about one thing to create one habit. Challenge yourself to be intentional about one strength each day to create one habit. 

    • Write a positive note on a family member's bathroom mirror. 
    • Start a neighborhood scavenger hunt.
    • Write a thank you note to a person who has had a positive impact on your life. 
    • Try a new makeup or hairdo tutorial.
    • Practice generosity to yourself by writing down 50 things you love about you. 
    • Look at the stars for 10 minutes.
    • Eat or drink Vitamin C with every meal today.
